Historic day

Mount Royal celebrated becoming a university with a ceremony that was both formal and emotional — becoming Canada's oldest new undergraduate university.

When Mount Royal first welcomed students in 1911 it was a college. On Sept. 3, 2009, the provincial government granted Mount Royal the right to be named Mount Royal University.
