Student Counselling Services provides year-round webinars and workshops on a wide range of topics to support both personal and professional development. Whether you’re looking to build new skills or strengthen existing ones, our offerings are designed to help you succeed.

All workshops and webinars are free of charge. Most workshops are live, with a few offered in a ‘work at your own pace’ format. Webinar links will become active at the scheduled time. Sign up through the links below or at the front desk at Student Counselling Services (U216).

Harm Reduction & Naloxone Training is a two-hour training where participants learn about harm reduction practices, the current state of the opioid crisis in Alberta, and how to respond to an opioid poisoning. This includes how to administer naloxone, the medication used to reverse opioid poisonings. A certificate of completion is available for those that are interested.

This training is being provided through a partnership with Wellness Services and the School of Nursing and Midwifery. We would also like to acknowledge the support of Safeworks Calgary in helping to create the materials for this workshop.

ASIST is an interactive and practice-based course that teaches participants how to provide suicide first aid interventions. Through completion of the training, participants will be able to:
- understand how personal and societal beliefs and values impact views on suicide
- provide tailored guidance and suicide first aid
- identify an effective safety plan and know how to implement it
- recognize important components of suicide prevention
This workshop is not recommended for people who have had a recent suicide loss.

A 90-minute online training that teaches participants to recognize when someone is thinking about suicide and connect them to help and support. This training can be completed at your own pace.

In partnership with the Maker Studio, join us in the Maker Studio (EL 1245) for a hands-on workshop focused on period equity and sustainability. Learn to make reusable cloth pads—an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to disposable products—and join in our conversations about the barriers to accessing period products and how reusable products can be a more equitable option.
At the end of the workshop, you can either keep the pads you helped make or choose to have them donated to someone in need. No sewing experience is needed and all materials will be supplied.
