Emergency Response Overview

In an emergency, employees, students and visitors need to respond safely and quickly. You may be notified of a campus emergency through multiple channels that are part of MRU’s Emergency Notification System

Take the time to familiarise yourself with your surroundings, including nearby exits and escape routes, fire alarm pull stations, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), before an emergency occurs. During an emergency, remember to stay calm, assess your surroundings and your options, and take action to ensure your own safety.

Review MRU's emergency procedures below to help prepare you for specific emergencies that may arise on campus:

A one-page emergency procedures poster is now available in both 11x17in and 8.5x11in format, for you to download and print. There are also What to do in an Emergency blue booklets located in each classroom and department/faculty office, or you can request a copy.

If there is an immediate danger to the health or safety of yourself or others,
